Grades: Work will be evaluated throughout the quarter (not just the due date) for understanding of the assignment, concept/idea, depth of investigation, amount of challenge, time/effort, technical quality and overall effectiveness. Your grade will also be affected by attendance, participation during lab time, participation in and preparedness for discussions, group work and other class assignments, as well as use of class time, general involvement and interest. Any grade below a C- will be considered a failing grade.
Attendance: Attendance is mandatory. Students who accumulate a total of 2 absences in a course will be dropped from the course and a grade of F (failed) will be recorded for the course. 5+ minutes late is an absence.
Late work will NOT be accepted without a formal written excuse. The excuse and ALL work is due the first class back.
Tardiness: Don’t be late, your grade WILL be affected. There will be no leniency.
Reading ResponsesFour responses are due during the quarter; each response covers a different reading in photographic theory. You will summarize and respond to the assigned essay. The response outline ideas and make the information applicable to a photographer such as yourself. Format- Two to Four pages typed including the following elements: Title: create a clear title to describe the response's focus Abstract: create a paragraph that concisely describes the response's focus Major Points: in paragraph form outline the major ideas in the reading. Examples/Evidence: detail the main examples and/or evidence from the reading. Make sure to include citation for your quotes. There should be at least 3-4 pieces of evidence or examples. Conclusions: write a paragraph or two that summarizes the major points, evidence/examples, and makes a conclusion about the validity or usefulness of the reading. Bibliography: any sources listed in MLA style Topics
